Synopsis

The Girl Next Door is a mystery novel written by Augusta Huiell Seaman an American author of Children literature, who penned many mystery & adventure writings for Children, especially for girls. Among her more than 40 novels, some of her notable works include The Mystery of the Empty Room, The Adventure of the Seven Keyholes, The Brass Keys of Kenwick, The Riddle at Live Oaks, and The Mystery of the Folding Key.
Marcia and her friend Janet learns something unusual about their neighboring house which is always shuttered.  They are unsure whether anybody is living there or is it vacant.  Later they learn the house is occupied by Miss Benedict.  Cicely Marlowe, a young girl finds her shelter with Miss Benedict, when she lost her mother.  However she could not understand why she is not allowed to look out the windows and denied to talk to girls of her age.  Marcia and Janet unravel the mystery behind Miss Benedict intentions.
